Zero Waste Facilitator

Job Description

The Zero Waste Facilitator team will be responsible for the operation of the Zero Waste Facilitator service including: arriving on-time and clocking in onsite, photographing and documenting the trash, recycling, and compost dumpsters and evaluating contamination levels. Upon discovery of contamination, unacceptable materials, or unsorted bins, the team will address the situation, removing misplaced materials and ensuring all bins are free from contamination. Finally the team will leave the area clean and document the final situation and end-time for the shift.

This role involves transferring material from carts or dumpsters, requiring lifting and bending activity. Sturdy clothes and shoes are required, any other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves will be provided. Litter pickup, sweeping, and sorting material including trash, recyclables, food waste and other compost are the main focus of the position, followed by data collection including taking photos, measuring volume of material types and contamination levels, tracking generation patterns of waste streams, sources of contamination, and other observational note taking.
